From Our Website

We are still an "Apple Premier Partner" for sales of Mac, iPad and Apple Watch, and we DO have stock. We should note that at the present time our showroom does not have any Macs, iPads or Apple Watches on display, nor do we have a timeline for when we will putting those back out. Meanwhile, our Sales Manager Tom Quinlan has been handling Apple product sales by phone and email. In an effort to keep our overhead low we are not stocking many computers, but we might have what you need and we continue to take orders.

From our humble beginnings in 2002 where we began in the tiny space that currently houses Ultimate Ice Cream on Charlotte Street, we've since grown to a staff of 30 employees. Many people don't know that we originally began as a PC repair shop. In 2006, we made the decision to become an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The natural evolution of that decision was becoming an Apple Authorized Reseller in 2008. In 2012, we launched a full lineup of computer education classes, many of which are offered at no charge to the community.

Below is a list of our most popular PC repair and maintenance services, but we are by no means limited to these items. We are always glad to work together with you to find the best solution to any computer-related problems you may face. Let us do a full checkup on your computer. We can determine what needs to be fixed, what can be upgraded, and let you know when it's time to move to a new machine. If your computer requires additional repairs, the diagnostic fee is applied to your final labor charge.

One of the most popular 32bit apps we see is Microsoft Office 2011, which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. If you have been limping along with Office 2008, the same warning applies. See the icons below to determine which version you have. If you are planning on upgrading to Catalina in the fall when it is released, why not save yourself some grief and upgrade to the 2019 version of Office now? The "perpetual" version is $149 (for Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Office 365 starts at $69 a year.

Apple's new operating system for Macintosh computers is going to be called macOS Catalina. It will be available in "the fall, " according to Apple. In recent years "fall" has meant late September, which is less than 2 months away from this writing. In most releases of macOS, we usually gain features while losing little if anything from past systems. One notable exception, was Mac OS X Lion in 2011, which discontinued support for ALL applications written before 2006. Uninformed users performed the "free" upgrade and found themselves facing hundreds of dollars of upgrades to other software.

Every year Apple hosts an event called the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC for short). Probably not a single person reading this is an App Developer, so why should the rest of us care? Well. the first event in the Conference, the Keynote address, always gives us tons of information and demonstrations about what new features we will all be getting in the next version of the macOS (that runs all Macs), iOS (which runs iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches), watchOS and the tvOS. And so, even if you are not the least bit curious and can wait until the fall to find out what these features are, this event will remain the best place to learn about these new features.

As a Premium Service Provider, Charlotte Street Computers works directly with Apple to provide in-warranty and out-of-warranty iPhone replacements. For iPhone repairs, Charlotte Street Computers asks for one to two business days for diagnostics.

We are running "YouTube Premiere's" of all of our classes during normal class times. This allows the instructor to be present and to focus on comments and questions that occur during the event, followed by a 10 minute Zoom meeting for face to face Q&A. You may sign up by choosing the next available date on the calendar below. The Promo Code to make your classes FREE is on the receipt for your device. We can also send you links to a playlist of those classes to watch at your convenience. Reach out to Tom if you need a copy of your receipt or a link to the class playlist.
